Last week all of our children enjoyed time at the Last week all of our children enjoyed time at the wonderful Lamledra Barns in Gorran Haven, previously Kneehigh. We walked along the stunning Gruda and continued our learning on the history of our local area and our school! We listened to stories about the old school, the night of fire and Mrs Edith Willis. We enjoyed making puppets and props, including gulls out of milk bottles, which we used as part of our whole school performance! Thank you to Mike Shepherd and his team for their inspiration and sensational storytelling!
Watch this space for photos of this Cornish celebration!
Last week as part of our School History Week every Last week as part of our School History Week every child learned about pasty traditions and how to make their own pasty! We invited in our families to share Cornish tales and recipes! We would to thank one of our parents, Emma May for her help in organising this project and to the The Cornish Pasty Association for funding the Ingredients! Big thanks also go to Cornish Premier Pasties and Rowe’s Cornish Bakers for the preparation of the high quality ingredients that made it really quick and easy for the children, as well as so tasty! I can confirm that not many pasties actually reached home as devoured not long after they were cooked! Ansome! 🥰
Yes we’ve done it again! Our Year 5/6 Football tea Yes we’ve done it again! Our Year 5/6 Football team have won the trophy for the Roseland Schools Network Football Championships! They also won the Respect Award Trophy which really makes us proud and is testament to the brilliant group of players they are!
Well done to all involved!
Let’s hope England do just as well! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Year 6 had such a wonderful day surfing, thanks to Year 6 had such a wonderful day surfing, thanks to Makai! Thankyou to Ian for talking us through tides, winds and wave power to help us make our judgments on which wave to catch. We’ve really learned loads and had a fantastic time!
The Summer Term fun continues and this week we saw The Summer Term fun continues and this week we saw our Year 3/4 class head out on their 2 night residential at Porthpean! The children took part in activities ranging from high wall climbing and sea adventures, to silent discos and laser tag! Their resilience and confidence soared in every activity! Pop back next week to see how our Year 5/6 class enjoy their Isles of Scilly Residential!
Summer has hit at Gorran with the opening of our s Summer has hit at Gorran with the opening of our swimming pool for Summer 2026.

We would like to introduce you our new edition …
our very own robot pool cleaner! This will really help the daily maintenance of this amazing resource that we have at school. How lucky are we!
Soon we will be asking the children to name this helpful little critter, so watch this space!

We must thank our wonderful Friends of Gorran School (FROGs) past and present who have raised the money for this as well as a new pool cover and new blinds for our school hall.

We are very lucky here at Gorran to have such a generous parent body whose recent donations have allowed us to keep our pool running, whilst also paying for a second bike shed, new blinds and new climbing frames on our school field.

Thank you to everyone, past and present, who has made these donations possible.

News Flash

To help protect children's privacy and online safety, we will no longer be posting photos that clearly show children's faces. Instead, we may share images that capture activities, achievements, and special moments in other ways, such as photos taken from behind, close-ups of hands creating artwork, or group shots where faces are not visible.
This change reflects our ongoing commitment to safeguarding the children in our care while still celebrating the wonderful experiences they enjoy with us.
We understand that many families enjoy seeing updates and photos, and we will continue to share the exciting things your children are doing in ways that respect their privacy and keep them safe.
