The Summer Term fun continues and this week we saw The Summer Term fun continues and this week we saw our Year 3/4 class head out on their 2 night residential at Porthpean! The children took part in activities ranging from high wall climbing and sea adventures, to silent discos and laser tag! Their resilience and confidence soared in every activity! Pop back next week to see how our Year 5/6 class enjoy their Isles of Scilly Residential!
Today we were visited by Oli Adams Team GB Surfer, Today we were visited by Oli Adams Team GB Surfer, as part of the Great Athletes enterprise, which encourages all children to be inspired to be more physically active! The children collected sponsorship to take part in a fitness circuit with Oli and then they enjoyed listening to his inspirational story of how he got into surfing at a young age and became one of Britain’s top Pro Surfers, despite battling Crohn’s and having his large intestine removed. Oli know lives with a stoma bag and is still surfing! His message of find your dream, live your dream and ‘I can do it’ will be of great value to our children who were amazed to know that one of Oli’s top surfing spots was Vault Beach! Being so close to the sea, Oli was the perfect athlete to visit our school. Thank you @greatathletesuk and thank you Oli!
We start our week with the sailing at Gorran Schoo We start our week with the sailing at Gorran School! Sailing teaches children critical life skills like resilience, self-reliance, and effective communication and that’s why we provide our children with the opportunity!
Summer has hit at Gorran with the opening of our s Summer has hit at Gorran with the opening of our swimming pool for Summer 2026.

We would like to introduce you our new edition …
our very own robot pool cleaner! This will really help the daily maintenance of this amazing resource that we have at school. How lucky are we!
Soon we will be asking the children to name this helpful little critter, so watch this space!

We must thank our wonderful Friends of Gorran School (FROGs) past and present who have raised the money for this as well as a new pool cover and new blinds for our school hall.

We are very lucky here at Gorran to have such a generous parent body whose recent donations have allowed us to keep our pool running, whilst also paying for a second bike shed, new blinds and new climbing frames on our school field.

Thank you to everyone, past and present, who has made these donations possible.
Yesterday Elephant class enjoyed their planting da Yesterday Elephant class enjoyed their planting day with Kristina from Pengelly Garden Centre.
It has been a joy working with Kristina and children have learnt so much about plants and what they need to grow well. From seed dissection, planting seed snails, germination to soil chemistry, planting their seedlings outside to ultimately enjoying their harvest later this Summer Term, the children have learnt the topic of plants and growth in such an enjoyable hands on way. Thank you once again to Pengelly for this wonderful opportunity and to the parents who kindly donated compost to top our vegetable beds on our school field!
